Fuji Motosuko Resort is a resort located in Minamitsuru District, Yamanashi Prefecture, at the foot of Mount Fuji.
Fuji Shibazakura(moss phlox) Festival held in the spring is especially famous, attracting many visitors from Japan and abroad to enjoy the view of both Mount Fuji and Shibazakura all over the area.
Shibazakura
Shibazakura is the Japanese name for “moss phlox”.
It is called Shibazakura in Japan because the flowers, which resemble “sakura (cherry blossom in Japanese)”, bloom along the ground like “shiba (lawn in Japanese)”.
Fuji Shibazakura Festival
The Fuji Shibazakura Festival in 2024 will be held from April 13 (Sat) to May 26 (Sun).
Fuji Motosuko Resort will be in full bloom during the Fuji Shibazakura Festival, with approximately 500,000 shibazakura plants in eight different varieties.
The collaboration of the pink, purple, white, and other colors of the different types of shibazakura with Mount Fuji is a spectacular view that can only be seen here.
Fuji Motosuko Resort is far from the nearest stations, Kawaguchiko Station and Fuji Station, so if you use public transportation, you will have to take a bus.
During the Fuji Shibazakura Festival, a direct bus service (reservation required) from Fujiyama, Kawaguchiko, Shin-Fuji, and Fujinomiya Stations to Fuji Motosuko Resort is available, as well as a route bus from Fujiyama and Shin-Fuji Stations. In addition, direct buses (reservation required) from Shinjuku and Machida in Tokyo and Yokohama in Kanagawa Prefecture will also be available.
Admission tickets can be purchased on site. But it is recommended to make reservations in advance, as same-day tickets, advance tickets, and web tickets that include a direct round-trip bus and admission ticket are available on the Internet.
Cautions for Golden Week (Japan’s major consecutive holidays)
Some of the dates of the Fuji Shibazakura Festival overlaps with a major Japanese consecutive holidays called Golden Week (April 27th (Sat) to May 6th (Mon) in 2024). As usual, the festival is expected to be very crowded during Golden Week and on Saturdays and Sundays, so it is best to avoid the above periods and days if possible.
